Ian Rankin is a renowned Scottish author, best known for his Inspector Rebus crime series. Born in Fife, Scotland, in 1960, Rankin studied literature at the University of Edinburgh, where he began writing the first of the Rebus novels. His gripping tales explore the gritty underbelly of Edinburgh, capturing the city's complex social and political landscapes. With numerous bestsellers and awards, including the prestigious Edgar Award, Rankin has cemented his place as a leading figure in contemporary crime fiction. Beyond writing, he champions Scottish literature and supports literacy programs. Rankin splits his time between Edinburgh and rural France.
