About

Richard B. Wright was a celebrated Canadian novelist best known for his Giller Prize-winning novel "Clara Callan" (2001), which also earned him the Governor General's Literary Award and the Trillium Book Award. Born in 1937 in Midland, Ontario, Wright taught English for many years before becoming a full-time writer. His fiction often explores the quiet lives of ordinary Canadians with remarkable depth and sensitivity. Other notable works include "The Age of Longing," "Adultery," and "October." Wright's elegant prose and keen psychological insight established him as one of Canada's most respected literary voices until his death in 2011.
