Rafael Sabatini was an Italian-British writer born in 1875 in Jesi, Italy, who became one of the most popular historical adventure novelists of the early 20th century. Best known for his swashbuckling classic "Captain Blood" (1922), which introduced the world to the dashing pirate-surgeon Peter Blood, Sabatini wrote prolifically in English despite it being his fourth language. His vivid storytelling and romantic heroes captivated readers across generations. Other notable works include "Scaramouche" and "The Sea Hawk." His gift for adventure and intrigue made him a bestselling author of his era. Sabatini died in 1950 in Switzerland.
