Andrea Hairston is an American author, playwright, and professor whose work boldly blends science fiction, fantasy, and Afrofuturism with richly layered storytelling. Her novel "Master of Poisons" won the Otherwise Award and was a Nebula Award finalist, while "Archangels of Funk" earned her the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. Her most recent work, "The Redemption Center is Closed on Sundays," continues her tradition of vibrant, genre-defying fiction. A dedicated educator, Hairston is the Louise Wolff Kahn Professor Emerita in Theatre at Smith College. Her writing celebrates marginalized voices and challenges readers to imagine radically different worlds.
