Yaa Gyasi

Yaa Gyasi is a Ghanaian-American author celebrated for her powerful storytelling and intricate exploration of themes like race, identity, and diaspora. Born in 1989 in Mampong, Ghana, she moved to the United States at a young age. She earned her BA in English from Stanford University and her MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. Gyasi's acclaimed debut novel, "Homegoing," published in 2016, received numerous awards, including the National Book Critics Circle's John Leonard Award for best first book. Her second novel, "Transcendent Kingdom," published in 2020, further cemented her reputation as a compelling contemporary voice in literature.
