Luke Short was the pen name of Frederick Dilley Glidden, one of America's most celebrated writers of Western fiction. Born in 1908 in Kewanee, Illinois, Short worked as a trapper, archaeologist's assistant, and literary agent before finding his calling as a storyteller. His lean, fast-paced prose and richly drawn characters brought the American frontier to vivid life across more than fifty novels. Among his most acclaimed works are "Ramrod", "Hardcase", and "King Colt" — tales of grit, justice, and survival that cemented his reputation as a master of the genre. Short passed away in 1975, leaving behind an enduring Western legacy.
