Héctor Tobar

Héctor Tobar is a renowned American author and journalist, celebrated for his compelling narratives that explore the Latin American experience. Born in Los Angeles to Guatemalan immigrant parents, Tobar's rich cultural heritage deeply influences his storytelling. He won acclaim for his novel "The Barbarian Nurseries," a probing look at class and race in California. Tobar also penned "Deep Down Dark," a gripping non-fiction work about the Chilean miners trapped underground in 2010. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Tobar has contributed to esteemed publications like the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. He teaches writing at the University of California, Irvine.
