Leon Trotsky

About

Leon Trotsky, born Lev Davidovich Bronstein in 1879, was a Russian Marxist revolutionary, political theorist, and writer. A key figure in the Bolshevik victory in the Russian Civil War, he played a pivotal role as the founder and commander of the Red Army. An influential Marxist theorist, Trotsky advocated for permanent revolution, and his works continue to inspire socialist movements worldwide. After losing a power struggle to Joseph Stalin following Lenin’s death, Trotsky was expelled from the Communist Party and exiled from the Soviet Union. He continued to write and critique Stalinism until his assassination in Mexico in 1940.
