Ishmael Beah

Ishmael Beah is a renowned Sierra Leonean author and human rights advocate born on November 23, 1980. He gained international acclaim with his memoir "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier," which chronicles his harrowing experiences as a child soldier during the Sierra Leone Civil War. Beah's powerful storytelling and advocacy have shed light on the plight of children in conflict zones. He is also the author of "Radiance of Tomorrow," a novel exploring post-war life and rebuilding communities. A UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Beah continues to raise awareness about child soldiers and works toward global peace and reconciliation.
