Patricia Highsmith (1921-1995) was an acclaimed American novelist renowned for her psychological thrillers and complex characters. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, she spent much of her life in Europe, where she crafted her tales of intrigue and suspense. Highsmith gained fame with her debut novel, "Strangers on a Train" (1950), which was adapted into a classic film by Alfred Hitchcock. Her creation of the charming yet sinister Tom Ripley in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1955) established her as a master of the genre. Highsmith's works continue to captivate audiences with their exploration of moral ambiguity and human nature.
