James Polchin

James Polchin is an American writer and cultural critic whose work explores the intersections of crime, sexuality, and American history. He is the author of "Indecent Advances: A Hidden History of True Crime and Prejudice Before Stonewall," a groundbreaking examination of how mid-twentieth-century America reported on the murders of gay men. His latest book, "Shadow Men," continues his exploration of true crime and hidden histories. Polchin teaches writing at New York University and has contributed to numerous publications.
