Silas House is a celebrated American author known for his evocative depictions of Appalachian life. Born and raised in Kentucky, House’s deep-rooted connection to the region is a defining characteristic of his work. He has penned several acclaimed novels, including *Clay’s Quilt*, *A Parchment of Leaves*, and *The Coal Tattoo*, each exploring themes of family, tradition, and the natural world. House is also a dedicated environmental activist and has written eloquently on LGBTQ+ issues. As a professor of English at Berea College, he shares his passion for storytelling with future generations, continuing to inspire through both his teaching and writing.
