Educated at Jesus College, Cambridge, Sterne initially embarked on a career in the church before turning to writing. His most famous work, "The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman," is celebrated for its unconventional structure and playful style, influencing later writers like James Joyce and Virginia Woolf. Sterne's exploration of human sentiment and humor also shines in his novel "A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy." Despite his limited literary output, Sterne's innovative contributions left a lasting impact on the development of the novel.
