Itamar Vieira Junior is a Brazilian writer, geographer, and public servant whose debut novel "Torto Arado" became one of the most celebrated works of contemporary Brazilian literature. Born in Salvador, Bahia, he holds a PhD in ethnic and African studies and brings a deep commitment to social justice and Afro-Brazilian culture to his writing. "Torto Arado" won the Leya Prize in 2018 and went on to receive widespread critical acclaim, earning numerous awards and international translations.
