Tanya Tagaq is an Inuk throat singer, artist, and author from Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Known internationally for her powerful experimental vocal performances that draw from traditional Inuit throat singing, she has won multiple Juno Awards and collaborated with artists including Björk and the Kronos Quartet. Her debut novel "Split Tooth" blends memoir, poetry, and fiction to explore her coming-of-age in Nunavut, weaving together themes of sexuality, violence, spirituality, and the Arctic landscape. The book won the Indigenous Voices Award and was a finalist for the Giller Prize, establishing Tagaq as a vital literary voice.
