Edwidge Danticat is a Haitian-American author celebrated for her poignant storytelling and exploration of Haitian culture and immigrant experiences. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1969, she moved to the United States at age 12. Her debut novel, *Breath, Eyes, Memory* (1994), is highly acclaimed, and she has published numerous works including *Krik? Krak!* and *The Farming of Bones*. Danticat's writing often addresses themes of family, political strife, and the complexities of diaspora life. She has received numerous awards, including the MacArthur Genius Grant, and continues to influence and inspire with her powerful narratives.
