Jez Butterworth is one of Britain's most celebrated playwrights and screenwriters. Born in London in 1969, he burst onto the theatrical scene with his debut play "Mojo" in 1995, winning the Olivier Award for Best New Play. He is best known for his landmark play "Jerusalem" (2009), a sweeping, mythic drama starring Mark Rylance that became a defining work of contemporary British theatre, transferring to Broadway to widespread acclaim. His other works include "The Ferryman," "The River," and "Parlour Song." Butterworth has also written screenplays, including the James Bond film "Spectre." He remains a towering figure in modern drama.
