Miep Gies

Miep Gies

About

Miep Gies was not an author, but she played a significant role in history as one of the Dutch citizens who helped hide Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis during World War II. Born on February 15, 1909, in Vienna, Austria, Gies moved to the Netherlands as a child. Her dedication and bravery in aiding the Frank family and preserving Anne's diary after their capture have made her a symbol of courage and humanity. Her memoir, "Anne Frank Remembered," co-authored with Alison Leslie Gold, recounts her experiences during the war and her relationship with the Frank family.
