About

Jason Goodwin is a British author and historian renowned for his series of mysteries set in the Ottoman Empire, featuring the eunuch detective Yashim. Born in 1964, he studied Byzantine history at the University of Cambridge, which sparked his interest in the East. Goodwin's first book, "The Gunpowder Gardens," explored tea's historical impact, while his travelogue, "On Foot to the Golden Horn," received the 1993 John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. Yashim's debut in "The Janissary Tree" won the Edgar Award for Best Novel in 2007. Aside from writing, Goodwin enjoys cooking and engaging with historical preservation projects.
