Ladee Hubbard is an acclaimed American author known for her insightful exploration of African American identity and culture. Her debut novel, "The Talented Ribkins," won the 2018 Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. Inspired by W.E.B. Du Bois's concept of the "talented tenth," the novel blends family history with magical realism. Ladee holds a BA from Princeton University, an MFA from the University of Wisconsin, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Residing in New Orleans, she continues to write compelling narratives that challenge societal norms and celebrate resilience and creativity.
