Apollodorus of Athens was an influential Greek scholar and grammarian, active in the 2nd century BCE. Renowned for his extensive knowledge of Greek literature and mythology, he authored a variety of works, including the notable "Chronica," a timeline of Greek history from the fall of Troy to his present time, and "On the Gods," although these works survive only in fragments. Apollodorus' most enduring contribution is the "Library," an encyclopedic summary of Greek myths and heroic legends. His meticulous attention to detail and methodical approach greatly aided subsequent scholars in understanding and preserving ancient Greek cultural heritage.
