K.A. Cobell is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation and a citizen of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. She holds degrees in English and law, and her debut young adult novel, "Looking For Smoke," draws on her Indigenous heritage and experiences growing up on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. The book explores themes of identity, culture, and environmental justice through the story of a teen investigating her cousin's disappearance. Cobell's work highlights contemporary Native American life and addresses the critical issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). She lives in Montana.
