Deborah Jowitt

Deborah Jowitt is a renowned dance critic, author, and educator known for her insightful and influential commentary on the world of dance. She began her career as a dancer, performing with the prestigious José Limón Dance Company, before transitioning to writing. Jowitt's work at The Village Voice from 1967 to 2011 established her as a leading voice in dance criticism. She has published several books, including "Time and the Dancing Image," which explores the cultural significance of dance.
