Andre Norton, born Alice Mary Norton in 1912, was a pioneering American science fiction and fantasy author. Best known for her Witch World series, she wrote over 130 novels across her illustrious career. Often called the "Grand Dame of Science Fiction and Fantasy," Norton was the first woman to be inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame. Her works are celebrated for their imaginative worlds, strong protagonists, and vivid storytelling. Norton's passion for literature extended beyond writing; she also worked as a librarian and editor, nurturing future generations of readers and writers until her death in 2005.
