Among his notable works are "Out of Sheer Rage," a meditation on D.H. Lawrence, and "Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi," a novel exploring dual narratives. He has received several awards, including the Somerset Maugham Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism.
