Nikole Hannah-Jones is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and esteemed author renowned for her work on racial inequality and civil rights in the United States. Born in 1976, she graduated from the University of Notre Dame and earned her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hannah-Jones is the creator of the landmark 1619 Project, launched by The New York Times Magazine, which re-examines the legacy of slavery in America. Her influential work has earned her numerous accolades and appointments, including being named a MacArthur Fellow. She is currently a tenured professor at Howard University.
