About

William Hubben (1895-1974) was a German-American Quaker scholar and writer who specialized in religious philosophy and comparative studies of major thinkers. He served as an editor for *The Friend* and *Quaker Life* magazines. His most notable work, *Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Kafka: Four Prophets of Our Destiny* (1952), explored the spiritual and existential insights of these influential figures, examining their prophetic visions of modern humanity's condition. Hubben's writing was characterized by his ability to synthesize complex philosophical and religious ideas for general readers, connecting existentialist thought with Quaker spirituality. His work bridged European intellectual traditions with American religious thought during the mid-twentieth century.
