Ha Jin

Ha Jin is a celebrated Chinese-American author renowned for his poignant narratives and incisive exploration of themes like identity, exile, and freedom. Born in Liaoning, China, in 1956, he grew up during the Cultural Revolution and served in the People's Liberation Army before moving to the United States in 1985. Jin earned a Ph.D. in English at Brandeis University and is known for acclaimed works such as "Waiting," which won the National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award. He writes primarily in English, capturing the intricate nuances of cross-cultural experiences and the human condition through his compelling storytelling.
