Mariame Kaba

Mariame Kaba is an organizer, educator, and author who has worked for over three decades to end violence, criminalization, and incarceration. Based in New York City, she is the founder and director of Project NIA, a grassroots organization with a vision to end youth incarceration. Kaba is a leading advocate for transformative justice and prison abolition, and her work focuses on interrupting violence and supporting community-based interventions. Her book "We Do This 'til We Free Us" collects her essential writings on abolition, organizing, and transformative justice. She co-founded Survived and Punished and continues to build movements for collective liberation.
