William Lashner is an American crime fiction writer best known for his gritty, atmospheric legal thrillers. A graduate of New York University School of Law, he draws on his legal background to craft compelling stories of crime, justice, and moral ambiguity. His debut novel, "Hostile Witness," introduced roguish Philadelphia attorney Victor Carl, a fan-favourite character who reappears across several of Lashner's works. He has since broadened his range with standalone novels, including the philosophical "The Barkeep" and the sweeping historical road novel "Freedom Road." His writing blends sharp wit, rich character work, and propulsive plotting to thrilling effect.
