Anna Smaill is a New Zealand author known for her rich, lyrical prose and inventive storytelling. She holds a degree in music performance, as well as a Master of Arts in writing. Smaill's debut novel, "The Chimes," published in 2015, garnered international acclaim and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. The novel reflects her musical background, infusing a dystopian narrative with rhythmic and melodic elements. Prior to writing novels, she also published a poetry collection, "The Violinist in Spring." Smaill's work often explores themes of memory, identity, and the interplay between language and music.
