Mark O'Donnell was an American playwright, novelist, and humorist celebrated for his sharp wit and versatile creative voice. He is perhaps best known for co-writing the book for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Hairspray" (2002), adapted from John Waters' beloved film. His plays, including "Fam and Yam" and "Tots in Tinseltown," showcased his gift for comic invention, while his novels "Getting Over Homer" and "Let Nothing You Dismay" earned praise for their warm humor and keen observations of modern life. O'Donnell was also a prolific contributor to The New Yorker. He passed away in 2012.
