Philippe Claudel is a French novelist, filmmaker, and screenwriter whose poignant works explore themes of memory, trauma, and human resilience. Born in 1962 in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, France, he teaches at the University of Nancy. His acclaimed novel "Brodeck's Report" (also published as "Brodeck") earned widespread recognition for its haunting portrayal of a postwar community's dark secrets. "Monsieur Linh and His Child" showcases his gift for depicting displacement and unlikely friendships. Claudel's spare, lyrical prose and compassionate exploration of humanity's shadows have garnered numerous literary prizes, including the Prix Renaudot. His work has been translated into over thirty languages.
