Victoria Amelina

Victoria Amelina was a Ukrainian novelist and war crimes researcher whose literary voice was shaped by the devastating realities of her homeland. Born in 1986 in Lviv, she gained recognition as one of Ukraine's most talented writers before the full-scale Russian invasion of 2022 transformed her focus toward documenting atrocities and bearing witness to war. Her book "Looking at Women, Looking at War" reflects her urgent commitment to truth and humanity in conflict. Amelina was fatally wounded in a Russian missile strike in Kramatorsk in June 2023 and died on July 1, 2023, leaving behind a powerful and irreplaceable legacy.
