About

Plutarch, a renowned ancient Greek biographer and essayist, lived from approximately 46 to 119 AD. Born in Chaeronea, Boeotia, he became one of antiquity's most distinguished thinkers. Plutarch is best known for his seminal work, "Parallel Lives," a series of biographies juxtaposing notable Greeks and Romans to draw moral comparisons. His other significant contribution, "Moralia," comprises essays and dialogues covering various ethical, religious, and philosophical topics. A dedicated Platonist, Plutarch's writings display a profound understanding of human character and ethics. His works significantly influenced Renaissance humanism and continue to be valued for their insight into classical civilizations.
