About

Paulus Orosius was a Christian historian, theologian, and priest whose writings made a lasting impact on medieval historical thought. Born in the Iberian Peninsula around 385 AD, he became a devoted disciple of Saint Augustine of Hippo and Saint Jerome, collaborating closely with both. His most celebrated work, "Historiarum Adversum Paganos Libri VII" ("Seven Books of History Against the Pagans"), offered one of the first universal Christian histories, tracing the world's calamities from a theological perspective. Orosius's writings profoundly influenced medieval scholars and helped shape the Christian understanding of history for centuries after his death around 420 AD.
