About

E.R. Eddison (Eric Rücker Eddison, 1882–1945) was an influential English author renowned for his works of high fantasy. A Cambridge graduate, Eddison spent much of his professional life at Britain's Board of Trade, yet his passion lay in storytelling. His most celebrated novel, "The Worm Ouroboros," published in 1922, is a cornerstone of fantasy literature, noted for its rich prose and mythical grandeur. Eddison's narratives, heavily inspired by Norse sagas and medieval romances, transport readers to elaborate worlds filled with heroic deeds and epic battles. His legacy lives on, inspiring countless fantasy writers, including J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.
