Robert James Waller was an American author, best known for his 1992 novel, "The Bridges of Madison County," which became a best-seller and was later adapted into a successful film. Born in Charles City, Iowa, in 1939, Waller pursued a career in academia, earning a Ph.D. in Business and later serving as Dean of the College of Business at the University of Northern Iowa. His writing often explored themes of love, longing, and the complexities of human relationships. In addition to his novels, Waller was a photographer and musician, blending his artistic talents into a multifaceted career. He passed away in 2017.
