Guzel Yakhina

Guzel Yakhina is a celebrated Russian author and screenwriter, born in 1977 in Kazan, Tatarstan. She achieved international recognition with her debut novel "Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes," which won the 2015 Big Book Award and the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Award. Yakhina studied at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute and holds a degree from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Her works often explore themes of cultural identity and historical memory, drawing on her Tatar heritage and Russian history. In addition to her writing, Yakhina contributes to various literary journals and participates in international literary festivals.
