About

Irene Solà is a Catalan poet, novelist, and visual artist whose work explores the relationship between language, landscape, and memory. Born in Malla, a small village in the Catalan Pyrenees, she draws deeply on her mountain roots in her writing. Her acclaimed novel "When I Sing, Mountains Dance" (originally published in Catalan as "Canto jo i la muntanya balla") weaves together voices of humans, animals, and nature itself in a lyrical meditation on death, community, and the living world. Solà's innovative prose has earned international recognition, and she continues to push boundaries in contemporary Catalan literature through her multidisciplinary artistic practice.
