Niceta of Remesiana was a fourth-century Christian bishop, theologian, and hymn writer from Remesiana, a Roman province in what is now modern-day Serbia. A close friend of the poet Paulinus of Nola, who celebrated him in verse, Niceta is best known as the probable author of the "Te Deum," one of the most enduring hymns in Christian liturgical tradition. As a missionary bishop, he worked tirelessly to evangelize the peoples of the Balkans. His theological writings, including his catechetical and doctrinal treatises, reflect a deep commitment to orthodox Christian teaching in the post-Nicene era.
