Denis Dutton

Denis Dutton was a renowned philosopher and academic, best known for his work in the fields of aesthetics and the philosophy of art. Born in Los Angeles in 1944, he earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dutton gained international recognition as the founder and editor of the web publication Arts & Letters Daily. His influential book, "The Art Instinct," published in 2009, explored the evolutionary origins of art and beauty. Aside from his scholarly contributions, Dutton was a celebrated speaker and a professor at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. He passed away in 2010, leaving a lasting impact on the understanding of art and aesthetics.
