Edmund Hillary

Sir Edmund Hillary (1919-2008) was a renowned New Zealand mountaineer and explorer best known for his historic ascent of Mount Everest. On May 29, 1953, alongside Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, he became one of the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of the world's highest peak. Beyond his mountaineering achievements, Hillary was a dedicated philanthropist, particularly committed to helping the Sherpa people of Nepal through educational and infrastructure projects.
