Solmaz Sharif

Solmaz Sharif is an acclaimed Iranian-American poet known for her poignant exploration of war, displacement, and identity. Born in Istanbul and raised in the United States, Sharif's work often reflects her personal history and the broader geopolitical landscapes that shape immigrant experiences. Her debut poetry collection, "Look," was a finalist for the National Book Award and brought attention to her innovative use of language and form. A recipient of numerous prestigious fellowships, including from the Rona Jaffe Foundation and the Lannan Foundation, Sharif has established herself as a powerful voice in contemporary literature, teaching creative writing at Stanford University.
