Nisi Shawl

Nisi Shawl is an award-winning American author and editor known for groundbreaking work in speculative fiction. Their debut novel, "Everfair," a steampunk alternate history exploring colonialism in the Belgian Congo, was a finalist for the Nebula Award. Shawl co-authored "Writing the Other: A Practical Approach," a seminal guide on inclusive representation in fiction. As editor of "New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color," they champion diverse voices in the genre.
