Abdulrazak Gurnah is a Tanzanian novelist and academic renowned for his rich storytelling and exploration of themes such as displacement, identity, and the immigrant experience. Born in Zanzibar in 1948, Gurnah moved to the United Kingdom in the late 1960s, where he pursued his studies and later became a professor of English and Postcolonial Literatures. His critically acclaimed works include "Paradise," "By the Sea," and "Desertion," showcasing his profound narrative style and deep understanding of history and culture. In 2021, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism.
