Vanessa Nakate

Vanessa Nakate is a Ugandan climate activist and author, widely recognized as one of Africa's most prominent voices in the global climate justice movement. Inspired by Greta Thunberg, she founded the Rise Up Movement, amplifying the stories of African activists on the front lines of the climate crisis. Her memoir, "A Bigger Picture", chronicles her journey from a young woman in Kampala to an internationally acclaimed advocate, challenging world leaders to take urgent action. Nakate has spoken at COP summits and the World Economic Forum in Davos, passionately ensuring that African and Global South perspectives are central to the climate conversation.
