About

Ayn Rand (1905-1982) was a Russian-American novelist and philosopher, noted for her development of Objectivism, a philosophical system celebrating individualism and rational self-interest. Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Rand witnessed the Russian Revolution before emigrating to the United States in 1926. She achieved fame with her novels "The Fountainhead" (1943) and "Atlas Shrugged" (1957), both of which promote her ideals of objective reality and laissez-faire capitalism. Beyond fiction, Rand wrote extensively on ethical and political topics, influencing libertarian and conservative movements. Her works continue to spark debate and inspire discussions on the nature of freedom and individual rights.
