William Trevor was a celebrated Irish novelist, playwright, and short story writer, renowned for his astute character studies and intricate storytelling. Born on May 24, 1928, in Mitchelstown, County Cork, he moved to England in the 1950s where he began his literary career. Trevor's works, often set in both Ireland and England, deftly explore human relationships, moral dilemmas, and the passage of time. Among his acclaimed novels are "The Story of Lucy Gault" and "Love and Summer." A five-time winner of the O. Henry Award, Trevor's contribution to literature was recognized with a knighthood in 2002. He passed away in 2016.
