Wilfred Owen

Wilfred Owen

About

Wilfred Owen (1893-1918) was an influential English poet and soldier, renowned for his poignant war poetry that encapsulates the horrors of World War I. Born in Oswestry, Shropshire, Owen was educated at the Birkenhead Institute and University of Reading. His early work was influenced by Romantic poets, but his style evolved during his military service. Owen's most famous works, including "Dulce et Decorum Est" and "Anthem for Doomed Youth," reveal his deep anti-war sentiments and his mastery of vivid imagery and raw emotion. Tragically, he was killed in action just a week before the Armistice, leaving a lasting legacy.
